Social Action
Individually and as a community, we are committed to
tikkun olam
, repairing the world, both close to home and around the globe.
Our monthly activities include volunteering at the Clintonville-Beechwold Community Resources Center (CRC) food pantry. We also find great meaning in providing meals to families at the Ronald McDonald House for Nationwide Children’s Hospital or joining an established social justice program as a Little Minyan team.
To get involved, check our calendar for dates and contact Debra Seltzer, debraseltzer@littleminyan.org.
Within a Reconstructionist community like this one, social action is woven into the rhythm of Jewish life as a lived expression of tikkun olam, the ongoing work of repairing the world. Members are invited to carry sacred values into practical service that meets real needs in their neighborhoods and beyond. The kehilah approaches activism as a shared spiritual practice, believing that small, consistent acts of care can ripple outward and strengthen both the people served and the volunteers themselves. In this way, tradition becomes a source of energy for contemporary justice work rather than something set apart from daily concerns.
Regular gatherings around service projects offer members meaningful ways to connect heart, hand, and heritage. Activities often include stocking shelves at a neighborhood food pantry, preparing meals for families staying near a children's hospital, and joining broader coalitions that advocate for refugees, immigrants, and other vulnerable communities. The community also marks the Jewish calendar's call to justice through seasonal observances that link ancient memory with present responsibility. By showing up together, members practice the values they pray about, deepening relationships and reminding one another that caring for others is itself a form of sacred work.
